How Do Group Events Work on GenGle?
Group events on GenGle allow single parents to meet up in person by organizing or joining shared activities in public places, ensuring safety and connection.
The Short Answer
Group events on GenGle are the beating heart of our community. They work simply: every user can suggest or join an activity, whether it's grabbing a pizza, a park trip with the kids, or a hike. To participate, just scroll through the event calendar, choose the one you like, and click "I'll participate." Everything happens within the platform to ensure maximum safety and transparency.
How to Join or Create an Event
There are two main ways to interact with events:\n\n1. Joining an existing event: Explore the events/events section by filtering by city or category. Once you find the right event, you'll see the details location, time, expected cost and can sign up.\n2. Creating your own event: If you don't find anything in your area, you can be the promoter! Enter a title, description, location, and decide if the event is open only to parents or to children as well.\n\nOnce the event is created, other GenGle members in your area will receive a notification and can join you. Remember that managing RSVPs happens through a dedicated internal event bulletin board.
Group Rules and Best Practices
To ensure every meetup is enjoyable for everyone, we follow a few simple rules:\n\n Communication: Use the event bulletin board to coordinate logistical details.\n Respecting RSVPs: If you say you'll be there, try your best to attend. If something unexpected comes up, notify the organizer promptly via the event comments.\n Managing Children: Many events are designed to be family-friendly. Always check the description to see if the activity is suitable for your children's age.\n\nTo learn more about getting started with confidence, consult our guide for new members/guide/primi-passi-community.
Safety and Trust in In-Person Meetups
Safety is GenGle's top priority. Events always take place in public locations and are visible only to registered and verified users. Never share sensitive information like your home address or private phone number on the public event bulletin board; use internal messaging tools only when you feel comfortable. \n\nJoining a group event is the best way to break the ice, as you'll be surrounded by people who understand your family situation.
